How high is just high enough?

You Colorado folks can tune out now.

What would you say in the minimum height to place a ladder type stand. Obviously sent would still be an issue but I haven't noticed deer spend a lot of time looking up in trees. I've almost always hunted from ground level pop-up's.

I'm not crazy about heights but need to position a bow stand that will be about 25 yards from a feeder.

10 ft is a minimum for me but the standard 15 ft is fine with me and I'm deathly afraid of heights. I've seen deer stick their heads into a pop up so if you are super still 6 foot would probably work but my nick name is worm so I go 15 with all mine.

Crazy thing is I will jump on a personnel basket and be lifted 75 foot in the air but for the life of me I can't go higher than 15 to 17 feet with a climber.

That's a tolerance question. Tolerance of heights of course

For me, it depends on the tree, backdrop, and the cover the tree provides.

Large, low branches at 10-12' will probably be plenty.

If you're hunting out of a slick pine or oak, you better be reaching 25'-30'. That's if you want to feel comfortable with small movements and standing up to stretch without getting busted easily.

Right before you're just too high! Seriously, though, I've had success with a 10 foot ladder stand and been busted at nearly 20 feet. I think background cover is more important than height.

As high as physically possible. I'll take 40' when I can get it. Feeder was at 25 yards.

I agree with Black Ice. 10 ft is fine if you have cover, and 15 ft is better.

I don't like any higher because of the acute shooting angle.

Another vote for personal preference. When I first got in to bow hunting, I bolted a boat seat to a shop ladder on wheels and tied it to a broken over pecan tree. 6' ... Maybe... And it worked just fine. Now my go-to is 16' ladder when a tree is available.

Ladder stand at 20' climber 40'+. When the wind rolls through its a ride high in the pines, just hold on and enjoy the ride.

I killed my biggest buck from a 6 foot tripod at 18 yards. It all depends on the available cover and your ability to sit still. Get busted from a stand, and deer will learn to look up quickly. Pressured animals will always be harder to kill, but by being patient, hunting the right wind, not trying to draw too quickly, and reading your deer, 10 foot is very possible. If you're hunting a feeder, find the perfect spot for your stand and then put your feeder up. Hand corn is even better to help position animals for a shot. I'm not getting over 15 foot up, period.

When your in a tree they will look up . I usually get 30ft this helps with scent also.
It depends on how much cove you have and how pressured the deer are. You can buy or make some clips to hold branches to your stand . If you use fake Christmas tree limbs they will stay green.
Put your big boy pants on and get high as you can.
