I eliminated the slats in favor of 3/4 plywood. Made a huge difference.

Just bought a firm Cocoon Chill by Sealy. My back likes it so far. Hopefully it holds up over time. They have a $100 discount code on their site and Amex has a $100 statement credit offer, so I got the king delivered for $800.

We've got the Tempurpedic and it's awesome. If you go with this be ready to shell out about 10 grand!

What kind of firmness do you/yall like is the most important thing!!!!! Soft medium, firm or extra firm. We like a soft plush latex mattress. Currently we have a Dr Breus Bed ''Signature Series" king size. Was not cheap but not as much as some sleep numbers. Around $4500 I think is we paid. My in-laws' Sleep number was 12k

The new purple mattress looks interesting. If I were in the market I would give it a shot.

Man, we've been through that as well. Our old spring mattress got saggy and we couldn't stand it, so we spent about $3000 on the latest, greatest memory foam razzmatazz supermattress. After a few months we got tired of it. We stuck to it like it was a glue trap, and it was hot and sweaty. So we went back and got a higher-end spring type, the kind where each spring is in an individual sleeve, and pretty firm. WONDERFUL! Get what works for you.

This is what we did. Kinda pricey, but I no longer have back pain in the mornings.

My wife and I have had a water bed for the last 39 years... back problems went away in about 3 days after getting it... When I sleep in a hotel, deer camp, or anywhere besides my water bed, back pain returns... Ours is the plain old bladder... no baffles or foam dividers, no nothing but water... To this day, we like it better than anything else we have ever tried... Got a Tempurpedic for a guest room bed to try it... Sure glad we did that... No way I'd trade my water bed for 10 of those memory foam thing a ma jiggers...

Casper. (Or many of the online only companies) Try it out for 90 days and return it if you don't like it. Mattress stores are a joke and a ripoff.

Lava lights on both sides of the bed too!

I do like those old style waterbeds but I move around too much. My wife would get seasick or rolled out of bed.

We did the matrest thing a few months ago. I really liked one of the more expensive Tempurpedic matresses. But, I just refused to pay the over $5,000 price tag. The other one we both really liked was Beauty Rest Black -firm. It's a really nice matress. It's got a soft couple of inches on top and firm support under that. We've been on it since we took delivery in the middle of Jan. It's now broken in pretty well and is extremely comfortable.
