That's the way they operate nowadays! I had a tire with a wobble, so I took it in for a balance. They took the tire off, then he gets me and takes me out to the bay and shows me a worn spot on the tire. He then tells me that balancing won't do any good because of the wear, and that he cannot put that tire back on my truck. I told him i did not ewant to buy tires today, and he basically said, too bad!!! I was pizzed, and we went around and around a bit. All they do now is try to make you buy new tires whether you need them right then or not.

Discount has been going downhill the last few years. They're more interested in getting you in and out. They rarely listen to you about things you ant, atleast in LJ. Once I wanted inner wheel weights in a brand new set of wheels, so the clamp type wouldn't screw up the finish. Well they ignored that request. Really ticked me off.
They are also very rough on hubcaps, the center cap on allow wheels. I lost many center caps on my Nissan Frontier I had because they continuously dicked them up. Not that firestone or any other place would be any better.
Service and knowledgeable people all around seem to be diminishing every generation that goes by.
I have an oil leak on my wife's 1 year old highlander. Took it in, this is the 4th time, and their "master tech" at the dealership tells us it's the crankshaft seal. Absolutely ridiculous. You could tell that the crankshaft seal wasn't the issue. My dad gave it a thorough look over, about 30 minutes and a little while digging around on the net, located the issue. Took it back up there today and they treat you like you're a DA and don't know what you're talking about.
Sorry I got off subject. Had to get that one out

I try never to do business with chain stores, I get better service from locally owned.
