Help me name some property in the Hill Country

I am lucky to have a tract of land in the Hill Country that has been in our family for decades. Due to the way my fathers will was written, I am about to take possession of my share. I have been kicking around some ranch names for a while and haven’t been able to come up with anything that I like. Figured I would see what the green screen could throw at me.

I am trying to work in TX history, family history and something somewhat unique and different. As in getting away from the blankedy blank ranch format if at all possible.

My first thought was Runaway Scrape Ranch. A tip of the hat to some TX history but it follows the format I don’t like. I have also been trying to work in some German names. But I don’t speak German. So I have been trying to google translate different words. Ein or 100, is about how many acres I have. Hill country is something like Hügelland in German, ranch translates to ranch. Even something Indian sounding. Was also thinking of just naming it my fathers name. Any thoughts?

I allways felt a Ranch like a dog just kind of has to earn it's name.

Dads name was James. Lots of other "J" names in the family, so just leaving it a J is an option too.

              Lazy J
Or add up the j's, so if there is like 4 of them you call it 4 Bar James or 4 J ranch

Probably no help but my wife and I both have SB for initials so she named our place SB2

If you want to go with the " J " theme, you might check out your County's brand registry for ideas; and to make sure it is not already taken. See here:

My last name starts with an H, so checked to ensure no one had a brand registered as the "Diamond H" in that county. I had Dad register it in his name. In 10 years, when it needs to be renewed, my younger brother with register it in his name, as we was listed as his "agent" on the form. Then one of his boys will get the brand after that. (I don't have kids.) So you could start a legacy with the brand registry, starting with you and passed down in your will.

Diamond J, Easy J (or lazy j), J bar,... Lots of options to draw from and build some family history with a brand.

We named ours OTAKTAY Ranch. OTAKTAY is a Sioux Indian word meaning "Kills Many". We thought it was fitting since its a hunting ranch. A lot of cool Native American words out there!!
