For a little background--My brother-in-law who is now in his 40's had bacterial meningitis when he was 21. He almost died, and had his left arm. one leg above the knee and one below the knee amputated. He was in his second year at LeTourneau University, and still managed to graduate only 1 year behind his class. He now works a an engineer at Beechcraft in Wichita Kansas, has 4 wonderful kids, hunts pheasant off of a 4 wheeler, does all of the maintenance on his truck himself, etc.
Now his oldest, 7 year Katie, has been having knee pain for a couple of weeks, which they thought she had hurt while playing, but it kept getting worse. They took her to the doctor, and x-ray showed a growth in her knee. MRI results point to likely osteosarcoma. They did a whole body MRI and chest x-ray yesterday, and are waiting on results to see if there is any metastasis that is large enough to show up. She is going to Kansas City next week for biopsy and to determine treatment.
And she also has a new brother due any day.
