It's a natural Gas flare P&ID. I am hesitant to post any more of the drawing due to company policy. Sorry, I appreciate the help though.

Yeah, I'm learning that the hard way!

Actually there should be a symbols legend with the drawings.
Although there are industry standards for most process drawings both mechanical and electrical there are sometimes one off items that there are no standard symbols for so one is made up and should be added to the legend.

Since it is natural gas I would think it is an inline silencer

I supply equipment that attaches to flare stacks, runs tubing (instrument) to analyzers (usually Seimens), then back to the stack... it could be the depiction of the chamber where that is done... (hence the little chingaderras on either end)... And since you said it should be a flame arrestor, it may well also be an arrestor/silencer combo... but there SHOULD be a legend with the drawings... Maybe you didn't ge the spec pages where the legends are??

              Might be a detonation arrestor?

                Thanks for the Help!!
I was told to put the correct symbol for a Flame Arrestor in the Drawing and send it off to be updated.

                Thanks again.

From my experiences with these drawings the only way to know is ask the engineer that thought the contraption up to begin with, that's the only way we could get things built in the field, and even then someone would have to come up with an executive decision or two along the way.
