If ya add a little sugar while cooking it, it'll take the smell away.

I take and chop it up, add sliced onions, garlic, and smoked sausage. put in a foil pan, throw about 3 good globs(precise) of butter, and put on the smoker uncovered, turning occasionally for about an hour. Then cover and finish cooking.

I like it fried as well.

Something else I do is core out the head, fill with butter and your favorite cajun seasoning, wrap in foil leaving the top a little loose and put it on the charcoal grill until tender.

                    rough chop one head cabbage
                    chop half a onion
                    dice half bell pepper
slice a half pound bacon into half inch squares

render down bacon in a skillet
                    add onion and pepper

                    cook one minute

                    add a cabbage to skillet

stir frequently to coat the cabbage with the bacon grease

turn down the heat and just let this cook down to desired firmness

sometimes I like to put about four tables spoons of water in the pan after a while and put a lid on the pan and let it all steam down

this is actually a german dish
can't remember the name of it but all the biergarten's serve this with fat kielbasa sausages in the mix

                    good eatin right there!

                      6-8 slices bacon
Cook it up about 3/4 done and take out
Throw in your sliced up cabbage and coat well with bacon grease.
cut up bacon and throw it back in.
                      Add a can of rotel
                      cover and simmer till done.
add ya some V&V sausage in there if you like.
                      Slap yo mama good.

I cook it in a rice cooker. A whole head. With onion and bacon ..add salt pepper and some chicken boulion. A touch of cayene pepper and let it steam. People love it.

How much? 10 pounds or so. I can't eat it because I can't hold my breath long enough to get it down. Yuck.

When I cook one head I just put a little. Doesn't take much.

Yep. It's not that bad. All these recipes are great!! Cabbage is about as cheap as Jiffy. Throw in some beans and you can eat for a week on about $6 dollars

Not sure if been posted yet but Saturday night at the lease when I figured out I accidentally bought cabbage instead of lettuce. Lease mate coated it with slap your momma seasoning and tossed it on the grill. Dang good.
