    Why is it......

This morning I went to the shooting range to try a few new hand loads. I set up my chronograph, got my target set up and settled in. I wanted to get done before the mirage kicked in and leave before other shooters show.
Well, a fella shows up and begins talking to me and tells me all about his military career and his dad's military career. And of course he was a Green Beret then transferred to the Seals, then trained snipers then worked for the CIA as a sniper and had 14 back surgeries and can only shoot 22 rimfires now. He built suppressors for the USMC, worked for NASA and some other things that I blanked out. Then another 10 minutes about his dad who trained snipers and so on.
20 minutes later I had enough and told him I need to finish up and get out of his way so he can have the range.( I was trying to be nice) Then he tells me how he enjoys his military discount at Home Depot and I got short with him. My reply to him: "I never enlisted to get a discount at Home Depot, I enlisted because I wanted too. I dont want a discount on anything, I qualify for partial VA disability and turned it down. And why is it every other jackwagon I meet is a special forces something or other and did secret missions and was a CIA agent. Why do people lie about there military career, what is the value?"
He looked just like a cow at a new gate for a second and said "well I better go". My reply was,"yes sir you should" and I still dont feel bad about it. Why is it important to some to brag and lie about military service?
Sorry for the rant, but I needed to breathe.

What he meant to say was..."One time I was in the Boy Scouts".

I think it's because people don't call liars out enough so they keep exaggerating the lies. Over 10 or 20 years the lies get so big it's just plain stupid. And it's catch 22. Once someone starts lying that big I'm thinking this guy is so stupid I'm not going to waste my time calling him a liar because I'll have to hear more lies from him trying to prove he's not lying.

Probably never even knew his Dad, let alone served in any capacity. Anyone I ever knew that really did anything bad azz, never talk about it let alone brag.

                      I read this somewhere.

Every time you meet someone, treat them as though they have a sign around their neck that says "Please make me feel important". I suppose some need that more than others.
