How exactly does bringing refugees here benefit us?

How many Americans are you wiling to sacrifice by giving accused criminals due process? We could get rid of due process all together and prevent thousands of crimes. Sure we'd have hundreds of innocent people imprisoned, but hey it'd be worth it, right?

Should have done it in the first place, but this administration continues to act without thinking things through.

If they would have communicated with all agencies and informed them what is going to happen, and those agencies were allowed an opinion, I think it could have been handled better.

Stupid to ban countries that have never been a threat. Should have banned them all.

Oh well, this crap for four years. Geez!

Didn't want to answer my question, did you? I'll answer your question anyway. People in foreign lands are not entitled to due process. The constitution and current law give the executive branch cart blanch with regards to immigration, and they have executed that power many times in the past.

I may be wrong but the message I thought I was hearing from you was maybe it's ok to do things the wrong way if it saves lives. I'm just saying that if that's the case, we don't need due process for citizens either. I agree we need to curb immigration from these countries. I was saying that before the joke was elected to save us from the witch. But why for heaven's sake can't he just do things the right way? Why not say, starting today we're making a change to who we let in. Why go back and tell people we've already let in (by giving them residency, visas, etc.) nope, I've changed my mind. It's like he's Cartman. I know someone with some brains told him the smart way to make this change and he responded with, "Whatever! I do what I want!"

They missed the boat in how they implemented the EO.

Albert Einstein was a refugee....Wernher Von Braun too. I can make a case that we want them. Just properly vetted first.

Granted they didn't come from the third world, but Third Reich wasn't far off if you were on the wrong side...

Second, it has long been affirmed in the courts that due process applies to everyone on US soil, not just citizens. If people are categorically excluded, with no mechanism for appeal, then due process isn't met. Doesn't matter if they're citizens, have visas, or trying to sneak in. Due process still applies, and the standard wasn't met by the ban.

Not a matter of whether I agree or disagree, but those were the legal principles behind the court ruling. It's pretty straightforward, actually. If you believe that the president has the power to make bans like this, whether you think it's a good idea or not, they still have to follow the established rules of law.

I understand your logic with your first point. The second point doesn't make sense in the context of the EO as the people being banned are not on US soil.

That wasn't the criteria for the ban list.

If your friend the B----, as you say, would have gotten elected, conservatives would have banned together and with a Republican congress nothing would get done. Now, with Trump, even conservatives are more at odds than ever and the only thing getting done is a big mess.

This is the crap that has been created.
