Sure anybody can sure anybody for anything. But when there is a law that explicitly states the shooter is immune from civil suit in a shooting that was deemed legal, your chances of loosing much money to a lawyer in a civil suit after legally using deadly force is low.
That being said, your statement, "Every bullet that comes out of your gun has a potential lawyer tied to it." is dead on. There's lots of things a bullet can do besides hit somebody who should've (and legally could've) been hit.
Also, I am in no way a lawyer and cannot give sound legal advice because I've got no schooling. Im just odd and like reading into law speak
I believe Joe Horn spent into the 6 figures.

Well I've killed fox for stealing chickens, snakes for stealing eggs and crows for stealing chicks. Not counting other critters for stealing from me. I see no difference other than laws that protect the criminals.
Just remember, if all first time offenders were killed, there'd be no second time offenders.
Can't say what I'd do until I'm faced with the situation.
What Christians would think doesn't matter to me and one more human life won't hurt my sleep anymore than it already has.
I love these what if threads that differ from the original OP's post.
Enjoy, and handle things the way you feel best.
