    Sleeping problem. Need some advice

I can't sleep! I drove 1700 miles between yesterday and today fall a sleep for a hr with someone knocking on my truck door and can't go back to sleep. I can't ever seem to sleep over 4 hrs any more solid even at home. I won't take sleeping medicine because I drive a truck for a living and can't take the chance to driving drowsy. What else can help? My body is achy head is always pounding. I'm always stressing about little stuff and how everything has to be perfect. It's like my body says sleep my mind says no almost like a crackhead but I don't do crack or any other kind of drug. Need some advice please.

Sitting in deer stand always helps me sleep.

It's the stress. What helps you lower your stress level?

Melatonin helps, isn't addicting, and has very little side effects.

Put a "No lot lizards" sign on your truck so they wont be knocking and waking you up

I have the same issue, and have had it for years. Exercise helps me. Doesn't have to be full on gym 5 days a week, but just go for a walk at the end of the day. Walk around the truck stop for a while if there's nowhere else.

Doesn't limit it to just physical exercise either.. Get you some sudoku puzzles, or some other kind of brain game.

You need some way to let yourself unwind at the end of the day. I feel your pain brother, it sucks

another vote for melatonin. no grogginess when I wake up. It's natural.

Exercise is great also. Definitely helps melt the day's stresses away.

Get you an axe, a dead tree, and an afternoon. Fill bed of truck with cut firewood. No problem sleeping tonight. Getting good and tired from work that requires just enough attention to keep my mind on the task does more good than any chemical alternative I've ever tried.

I take it but it does cause some wild dreams. They have it 1, 3, and 5mg start low.

                        Exercise and no naps
Turn off all lights & electronics
                        Loud fans might help
                        Cool temps.

I have issues, but more since I worry more and exercise less
I ALWAYS sleep sounder at camp.

I do rotating shift work and have a mentally exhausting job, it's also a very safety sensitive position and, like you, I need to be awake and on my A-game at work. A while back my doctor instructed me to take one benadryl daily so I just time it with my sleep schedule. I take the benadryl about an hour to hour and a half before I want to go to bed and it helps me not only fall asleep but stay asleep for a full 6-8 hours. From what I understand, it's also one of the few medications you can basically take your entire life without negative side effects, however I'm not a doctor and could be wrong.

                            Melatonin
                            Magnesium Spray
                            Excercise
No cell phone/tablet/tv within an hour before bed

I'm not sure if it does with me. Just about every dream I have is screwed up, and I only occasionally take melatonin.
