Need Some Help from Facebook Users

My brother made this post on Kimber's Facebook or regarding how they're responding to a manufacturer defect on one of his rifles. He's trying to get some folks to post (hopefully on his side) to get Kimber to see the light.

My local gun shop quit carrying Kimber because too many patterned rather than grouped. When a guy spends a grand on a rifle he expects it to do better than 4" groups. Hill Country Rifles quit taking them for their accurizing service because the bad ones were just beyond help. If you get a good one, it's great. You get a bad one, it's awful.

A 13 year old rifle that had a one year warranty. They don't even make that rifle anymore. They offered him a new one with an $1,100 discount. I would be fine with that. He wasn't even the original owner of the gun

You're okay with a firearms company not honoring a manufacturing defect beyond one year?

They admitted that it was built out of spec. For that very reason they should've repaired or replaced for free. Otherwise I would see no recourse at all. Hope he comes out ok on the deal.

So the rifle was built out-of-spec to start with and is so bad as to be unrepairable, but they want him to pay the equivalent of wholesale to get a functional rifle. Their service solution is to sell a second rifle when they acknowledge that the first one never worked right to begin with.

I've become used to firearms, optics and sporting goods manufacturers going way out of their way to provide outstanding service after the sale. I don't see how such a company can even stay in business, when they're so far inferior to their competition. Especially in the days of the interweb. Guess I'll never buy Kimber either first or second hand.

I bought a Kimber .308 that was the NRA gun of the year simply because it wasn't getting much in the way of bids. Nothing that I shot in that rifle would group, and I tried six different factory loads. No Kimbers for me !

What did the Kimber that you bought retail when it was new? Perhaps $1100 or so? How much did your brother pay for it?

If they don't make that rifle anymore, would you expect them to replace a 12 year old rifle, that is 11years out of warranty wth a more expensive model?

I think the $1100 discount is pretty fair.

Yes I would. I would also expect them to still have the capability to repair it. And FWIW, that's typically how these situations are handled in this industry. I've had Nikon and leupold both replace scopes and binoculars with better models when I've sent in modes that were no longer made for repairs.

They admit it was built wrong from the factory. They should repair or replace the gun.

I did not see your reply to my first question.

That's because I didn't reply to it. I don't know the answer nor does it have any effect on the situation in my opinion.

Twitter’s $1.6 million pledge to help fight the White House’s anti-terror immigration order is just the latest case of social media companies taking on Trump, but critics say the same companies are doing next to nothing to stop dangerous radicals from using their platforms to spread hate.

                            1. How is that even relevant to the situation?
                            2. You're posting on a social media site.
