          Okay. I was just trying to work out the economics. Most likely he could recover his cost by taking their deal. Not enough factual info.

          I don't know of any company with a product warranted for one year to the original purchaser, that would replace a product 12-13 years later to a second hand owner. Warranties are to cover manufacturing defects that should show up within the warranty period. If in fact this rifle was manufactured out of specs, whatever that means, it should have been evident to the original purchaser, and he/she should have sent it in back then. Seriously, it is not reasonable to expect a manufacturer to replace a product no longer manufactured for free 12-13 years after the warranty expired.

            Yeah, I have to agree. I don't think they should be asked to fully replace a gun that is 12 years out of warranty.

              FWIW, Kimber deleted the post and all replies and hasn't made any further communication to my brother. Guess deletion is easier than addressing the topic publicly.
