I was a police chief for many years and I can tell you that even if we enforce the law, they are deported and can get back here before the ink dries. You need some kind of barrier and understanding between the two countries. You get caught trying to come over illegally you get shot. We can't expect to build more jails, add thousands more border patrol agents. Draw a line in the sand, build the wall, patrol it and let them know what the consequences will be for trying to breach it. Try spitting on the ground in Singapore and see what happens! Time to get tough and put America first again!!!

When I speak of enforcing the law I am speaking about the employers. They are 90% of why we have illegals. The workers are going to come back if they can get jobs. I don't really care if we punish the workers because they will risk their life to get a job. Punishing them will not work. Cut off the supply of jobs and the majority will go back home or try to find work in another country. Won't need a wall if we would do this. Won't need a lot of border patrol either. 11 million undocumented workers are working for somebody over here. Spend the wall money on enforcing the laws from what we can control from OUR SIDE OF THE WALL. The rest will work itself out.

Yeah, it's funny listening to the Artillery officer that was giving the briefing before the demo. That round had less to do with supporting us (Infantry) than it did being the firing positions FPF if they were being overrun.

In all seriousness, one type of wall is not a literal wall, but one that might be as effective as anything that can be done: that is to enforce labor laws. When a company is caught employing a worker that is in the USA illegally, they should pay a hefty fine, and that fine should double with each occurrence. The fines can and should be steep enough that it is totally cost prohibitive to employ illegals. This folks, is doable.
