2.5 just because nobody said 2.5 and I'm a terrible guesser

If I was a betting man I would put down $10,000 on the over.

Nine years ago I killed his mother. She had two nubbin buck fawns. Each fawn had a distinctive ear patch that you can see on the left ear in the bottom picture at the top of the thread. I always put some corn out with my road feeder where the fawns stayed. They would come out when they heard my vehicle coming.

Eventually one of them came to hang out at the headquarters. At 1.5 years old he was a spike. The following year he had seven points. After that he was usually a mainframe 10. Sometimes adding two kickers. His best year was at 6.5. Our best estimate after finding his sheds was 157. I saw the other one a time or two on the other side of the ranch. Then lost track of him.

We nicknamed him "Tuffy" due to the ear patch. He has roamed the headquarters for the past seven or so years. Walking through the yard and between the buildings. During bad weather he beds down in the tractor shop. Sometimes laying in the shade of the lodge. He's usually always waiting in the front yard for "his" feed.

Tuffy is 9.5 this year and still running does!

Man it took 44 posts to get the TBH standard answer.

Im going with 9.5. No telling for me really, just know he is old. The last pic is very telling.

Cool story. I personally don't think I could kill that deer, with the amount of history that you have with him. Very unique.

That's a cool story. I've heard of this buck before. Mr Kainer tells me about your 'pets'

Great history on the buck. Curious as to what the twin brother was a yearling and turned into later in life?

Very cool!! Thanks for sharing. I took a buck 2 years ago that my taxidermist/processor estimated was 11.5 or older. Amazing when they survive this long!

I remember seeing pics of that deer a couple years ago. Awesome post. He is looking old now. There is a weird East tx deal where old bucks start to look young again in some cases. the more history i get with these deer, the more i realize i suck at aging them consistantly.
