You are talking 90-120 days of habitat, habitat that is already there.

You aren't talking about survival of ducks when it comes to winter habitat, you are talking about delaying the migration. Ducks aren't starving to death. If ducks where starving to death that would mean the entire gulf coast region is a dead zone. no brackish water, no moss, no snails, no nothing... is that the case? No. Ducks migrate from food source to food source.

Again DU needs to stick to nesting habitat, not hunting habitat
I get that the nesting habitat is of the utmost importance of everything, but if you lose the dollars spent on wintering habitat, then who is there to protect it against development, and erosion? Nobody. Then the ducks really won't have any reason to come down further.

They are all key partners. In my opinion you need to do everything that both organizations do. Not saying one is wrong or right, but they both do a ton of good.

I get what you are saying, but When ducks don't make it to the coast or the coast has a light migration it's because they are short stopped( weather, food, open water, etc) north of the coast.

Perfect example --north texas and Panhandle are loaded with Redheads right now...they ain't north bound.. they are just now getting here.

Habitat improvement in Texas isn't about feeding ducks for survival it's about slowing migrations and concentration of them for hunting....once they do get here. Which is fine but let's call it what it is.

That has more to do with it being warmer and warmer every year. When open water is gone and food is covered they head south.

I agree ducks and geese and been few and far between here in Texas. Look at eagle lake 20 years we limited out. Last time I hunted there two years ago we were lucky to see 20 birds the whole weekend. Put your money on roulette wheel

So true. A lot of people don't want to admit that it has to do with weather getting warmer (for various reasons). It's the middle of January and it's 58 degrees up here and going to be WARMER tomorrow!!

A lot of ducks probably haven't/won't make it as far down as where I am this year, and do you think a fully plumed fat mallard drake is going to get up out of my field and fly further south when it's 60 degrees? Not a chance.

Spent 12 or 15 years on a DU committee. Was a greenwing before I could walk. Volunteered for delta also. Plenty hipsters with both now so I support NWTF

I have supported NWTF RMEF DU DELTA. Then turn on the t.v and see big wigs hunting land that my money paid for. So I just do the best I can for the area I hunt.
On another note I see a lot of Texas trophy hunter stickers on pickups what exactly do they do?

Dollar for dollar, Delta produces more ducks. Now they are much smaller than DU, but they get results that DU can only envy.

I support both and have for many years. Both great organizations doing good work for waterfowl and wetlands.
