Along this line, have you asked them for your keys? Did they leave them in the vehicle?

Sorry bro. That really sucks. Seems they would have cameras that would give them some leads.

I think it falls under "normal care" or something to that effect. If they normally park customers vehicles inside a locked yard and they left yours out, then they'd be liable. If they don't have a fenced/locked yard and you're parked there then they took the same care of yours as other customers.I think you'll have a tough fight against the dealer.

I would ask one time to hear from the GM of the dealer and ask him if they are going to cover this. If he says anything but "Yes", get an attorney but counsel with your auto insurance first.

Your insurance underwriter is who will cover your loss...not the dealership. A vehicle being stolen from a dealership is no different than it being stolen from your driveway....stolen is stolen. Your insurance provider is also "required" to provide counsel for litigation, not you. Don't waste your money. If there is liability on the part of the dealership the insurance company will do their job and subrogate.

Call your agent and then call the GM....but I'd be pleasant about it, its not his fault. The reason I would talk to the GM is for the "GAP" coverage, if you don't have it. They may help with this or take it off a new truck so you don't lose money.

Good luck, if you have good insurance, you'll be fine. The bad thing, no personal property in the vehicle will be covered. If you have a renters policy or a HO policy, you can claim it under it. Renters policy will have a $250 ded, HO policy will be 1-2% of the value of your home.

That's a good idea. If they don't have them I guess we know who the theif is.

I'd ask for the keys to the truck to make dang sure they didn't leave them in the truck, if they left the keys in the truck and let it sit outside overnight then it's there baby and you should be getting a new ride. If not then you need a lawyer and it'll be a tough battle.

This is good advice. The dealership won't like the negative publicity

                        good question

did you get the initial call first from the police or did the dealership call you first? any other vehicles stolen at the same time?

Sad thing is I paid my deductible for my body work done on the truck. Wonder if I will get that back.
