    Truck Stolen from Dealership

Had my 2016 dodge in the dealership having works done. Get a call from the police today telling me that it is stolen. Is the dealership responsible? What action should I take ? Called my insurance and they say its dealership. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Most dealerships have a sign somewhere that states they are not responsible for vehicles and personal belongings. Never understood how that was possible. Hope all ends well for you though.

I would have been sick to my stomach!

Can you imagine the resale value!

If you feel like you need an attorney, you probably do. Dealerships utilize pretty strong legal to defend them.

Never Heard of one being stolen at the dealer but I'd think they are responsible for your vehicle while they are in possession of it.

These signs and signs on gravel haulers saying they aren't responsible do not absolve anyone of responsibility. There has to be an agreement among the parties to waive someone's responsibility.
Your insurance company should cover you and then they should go after the dealership.

Haha, I'm 100% certain it would be totaled and no resale value

I would ask one time to hear from the GM of the dealer and ask him if they are going to cover this. If he says anything but "Yes", get an attorney but counsel with your auto insurance first.

Are they still going to charge you for the work?

Was just about to post the same thing. The dealership is liable for damages while it is in their care. The signs are just to scare off ignorant people.

Start with your insurance carrier. You will be out a deductible but they will subrogate against the dealership to recover their loss. That's what you pay them for. Within 30 days, send a demand letter to the dealership requesting reimbursement for your deductible or you will file a lawsuit against them and report them to the BBB. When they fail to pay you or respond within 10 days, take them to small claims court.
