this is where I got my lab. kind, low key off the field, intensely focused in the field. He was amazingly smart & healthy.

His first hunt (ran after an injured dove for 100 yards):

If I was looking for another Lab it would be be from the Trumarc's Ebony Black
blood line. My old Booger dog didn't know what quit was and he could mark multiples rain or shine hot or cold any kind of bird. If he didn't find the bird first time he would come back and reset his mark and go look again and again.

I got both of my English yellows from California. It is a pain to get them, but they are by far the best dogs i've owned. Fiesta Farm labs and Spirithawk labs are where they are from.

For reference, my dog is a brother of the Stud dog from Fiesta. His name is "Lipton". He looks the exact same.

The breeder is as important as the ancestry of the dog to me.
Maybe I missed it but where did you get him? Great looking pup.

            No Help...

Just didn't like the Chocolate bashing. Hunted until he was 12. RIP Rusty Boy

I love my Chocolate, she is the best dog I have ever had. I have also owned 3 yellows.

Do yall think the Texas heat effects the blacks more than the yellows?

Im sure it does, but how much more I don't know. I think no matter the color the TX heat is a factor on a lab.

No. I'm on my second black lab. Both of mine would/will work and play like crazy in the heat. Never seems to bother them even when fetching dove at 100 degrees. Just make sure they have plenty of water available all the time.

I had a yellow lab that did nothing but lay in the house when it got hot.

                    Just my experience.

Got mine from Bear Creek Labradors in Craig, Co. The owner is also a vet and breeds/trains high quality labs. She turned 12 this past summer and while she is at the end of her hunting career, she has given me many years and great memories in the field.

Iowa pointing labs are good as well!

Impeccable Dogs From Here . I have had several as have my sons , with no complaints . She keeps unbelievable records and you can tell her the type of dog you want and what personality and she can match it . Yellow Labs shed more than trees loose leaves .
