Any county that borders the gulf or Rio Grande?
Ahh...no on the Gulf and Rio Grande part

Galveston County is on the gulf and El Paso is on the Rio Grande and they ain't South Texas.

Use to be South of 90 and West of IH 37 was considered South Texas as was said above. Now the Golden Triangle is a different area.

South Texas is the area from San Antonio south and north of the Rio Grande Valley.

Grew up in the Corpus area and it was always referred to as part of South Texas long before the commercialization of hunting became rampant and tried to shoehorn it into the Golden Triangle area. The Victoria, Refugio and Woodsboro area has some of the same classic terrain and was included as well.

Since when did DFW area not become part of North Texas?

If Ft.Worth is considered the gateway to West Texas, I'd say Abilene is most definitely part of West Texas.
