    Running late....5 minutes, doe down!

I decided to sneak away from the office for the day and hunt a couple of hours from home. I was walking to my stand as the sky was starting to lighten up. I almost skipped the hand corn and was going to rely on the feeder, but decided to walk the extra 160 yards toward the feeder, throwing hand corn along the way.

I climb into the stand and chamber a round at 7:01am. By 7:04 a big fat slick head walks out and by 7:06, she is taking a dirt nap.

Now time to sit back and see what else crosses my path.

Thanks for the idea! I am set to fry a turkey Sunday and already have four deer in the freezer so fried backstrap is a go!

Any special marinade or prep spices you recommend?

As I was typing the above, a group of nine doe started coming across the pasture. I was letting them walk to my cut trail, but they went directly toward my downed doe. They saw it and spooked, eight ran back from where they came, but one went forward. She made it to my trail and then turned and ran to join the others.

I had to grunt to get her to stop and took her when she did. Quartering away shot at 140 and blood came pouring out. Lost her in the mix of all the white tails in the air, but pretty sure she dropped about 20 yards from the shot.

I've never tried fried backstrap, just butterflied into steaks, cubed for kebabs, and little pieces in the grinder. Are you talking about making chicken fried steaks?

                              Regards,
