Heavier arrows have a longer flight time and can be affected more by wind due to the time spent from point A to point B just like a bullet. Good luck. From the sounds of it a dog should get him for you.

wouldn't a heavier arrow buck the wind better? like a higher bc. I need to experiment I guess.

Depending on its velocity it definitely could. There's more variables in play than simply the weight of a given projectile.

Yep. Depends on wind direction, arrow diameter, lots of things.

Was the buck's head up or down? I shot a doe on Friday through the front shoulders, but with her head down, I think I missed all the vitals.

I never found her, but I did not break any bones. I hope you find your deer!

I wasn't talking about direction. Weight doesn't always mean wind bucking. Velocity which equates to flight time is a huge factor winds being a constant.

Where are you at? I've got an excellent jack Russell that will find him if he's dead.

Deer sounds like it should be dead. Good luck this morning. Hope you find him.

Hard to tell what's going on with your arrow other than you hit the deer. I've learned never to trust what I see as far as blood, hair, meat etc. on an arrow and I sure wouldn't trust what a bunch of us Yahoos on the www had to say.

                        Good luck finding your deer.

At location dog working will update in a bit. The head went up when I drew back and stayed up when arrow hit. My computer took a dump last night so I'll have to wait to upload the video again.
