Bore sighted and not even on paper

I had Cabela's boresight a new AR yesterday and it's not even on paper at 100, 50 or even 25! I finally got to the top of the paper, 6 inches high, at 25 before I ran out of daylight. Very frustrating!

I've heard that several times. Try the redneck version of bore sighting. Pull the upper off the lower and remove the bolt carrier group. Place the upper on sand bags and look through the barrel and center on the target. With the upper held steady, adjust the scope to line up the cross hairs on the target. Double check by going back and forth between looking through the barrel and scope. Reassemble the rifle and shoot. It should get you on paper at 100 yards

That's basically how I did my bolt gun years ago when I changed scopes (pulled the bolt out). Was on paper at 100 and only took a few shots to get it on zero.

I've sighted my last 4 this way....if the shoe fits...

Or the east Texas red neck version. Shot at a rock on a dirt bank and adjust until you hit the rock. Then go to paper...

How far away from the target are you when you bore sight? Having the same issue with my AR and I am frustrated lol.

I e used the redneck version mentioned above except I used a flashlight shining through the barrel and adjusted the scope to hit the light on the wall.

I used a small but very powerful Surefire.

Works great and very easy with an AR.

                        sight in easy way

start at 25y kinda hard to miss paper..jf you do get closer.. Once its dead on at 25 it will be about 2" or 3 " high 100y piece of cake..it will take about 4X as many clicks at that 25y

Exactly what I was thinking. Is there a different way to do it?
