I'm thinking of going the other direction and getting an electronic lock to replace the dial on my Cannon. I've had it for 4 years and have had dial issues twice. According to the tech @ Cannon, the first one was my fault for spinning the dial too fast getting around to my numbers. It was only off by one digit, but if you don't know that, it might as well be a 1000. I was surprised it was that easy to un-calibrate, but I'm still happy with it overall.

Some safes will come with a change key. Depending on where you buy it, the retailer may not give it up. Most safe dials, including th S&G, are simple enough to change, given you have the correct change key. You are correct in assuming that ANY work done on your safe must be done by a licensed locksmith or you may void your warranty. If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me. As JimN mentioned, I am a locksmith, and have owned my company for 10 years.
Thanks,
Todd
