Is it just me?

A few weeks ago when I went to sight in my rifle for the Missouri opener, I couldn't believe the amount of ARs people were sighting in and the lack of bolt action rifles. To me, the ol' deer rifle means a lot to me. Especially the ones passed on from years before.

Don't know how to explain it, but that old bolt action with a 3-9 power scope on top it of it is much more appealing to me. I guess just seems more along whitetail hunting tradition and making sure that first shot counts.

Not sure why but I starting using my ARs only this year. Maybe it's the accuracy and smaller bullet. Maybe it makes me feel like I could get another round off if I need to. Most likely I just got use to using them since my kids don't like the hard kicking .270

Just a different time I guess. Im like you though and much prefer a bolt action over an ar. They are cool guns and fun to shoot, but I dont have much use for one personally, and I dont really see deer hunting as a viable use myself. But to each their own!

I'm sure the same thing was said when carbines/cartridge guns/muzzleloaders/bows/atlatls/spears came into the scene throughout history

I like the first shot to count, even if it's a single shot rifle, or pistol.

I love the bolt Action I have over 60 and only 2 AR's

I use both ar's and bolt action to deer hunt. They make a wide array of calibers in the AR platform nowadays. If we didn't evolve we would still be using a rock to kill our prey with.

I deer hunt with a bolt action...when I pig hunt, I use a AR
