I still shoot Rocky Mountain Titanium's, I expect them to fly like darts and kill stuff even if they have to go thru bone

To kill the targeted animal. That's it
I have faith they will go through any bone I ask them to go though, and fly true at all reasonable hunting ranges. I expect them to be lethally sharp from the package.
Other than that, I count on replacing blades as part of the task, though 1/3-1/2 probably don't need it and are still sharper than some junk is new. I'm realistic on broken blades. If it went through spine or heavy bone and a blades bent or broke, I'm fine with that, as long as it did what it was sent to do
Slick trick mags.... no gimmicks or BS, no fancy packaging or endorsements. Just quality products at a reasonable price

I shoot Rage extreme's. They do their job and leave great blood trails. They do bend but then again most everything is down in about 60 yards. So I don't mind chunking them after I am done. I shoot a lot of hogs in south Texas and just shoot WAC-EM three blades. I get 2-3 hogs with them if you hit them right. But deer get only the Rage. SHooting them once is a Small price to pay for a successful recovery.

I am sure that some people have had this issue before, but I can truly say that I have not had one bend like the one in the pic. I've had a couple break after a complete pass through and break after striking a rock. How do I know that's when it broke? Well, I video my shots and the two that broke I saw sparks when it hit the ground so I'm "assuming" that's when it happened.
Expectations of a broad head? I just want it to do its job. Kill the animal without making it suffer more than it needs to. If I can reuse it, GREAT.....If not, I will screw a new one on.
Just my 2c.

I look for accuracy and a quick clean kill. Used a rage for the first time. They were on sell so I thought I'd see what all the hype was about. Well I loved the big hole and the massive blood trail. But wasn't real excited about the bent blade. Will I continue to use them? Maybe. I'm thinking about the dirt nap DRTs. Good reviews and a warranty.

This season, with much reservation,I decided to try the Rage Hypodermic. I've taken 2 animals , but both times the blades returned bent. I expected since I was paying a premium price,I would be able to use the blades more than once. What is your experience with Rage and what do you expect from your broadheads?

I have been shooting magnus stingers with extreme accuracy , penetration and happiness, out penetrate anything I have ever shot or seen.... of course neither of the animals I shot last weekend left much of a blood trail,, both went about 10 yards and fell over dead,,, well placed shots rarely need blood trails, most of my animals simply die to fast to bleed.... and I like it that way!Last edited by xman59; 11-26-2016, 11:01 AM.

I had shot Muzzy,s for years and switched to Rage about three years ago. I have been very impressed with the blood trail that it leaves. The deer that I have take with a Rage broad heads had left a blood trail that look like someone took a paint brush and dipped it in red paint and just splatter it everywhere. I have never had a blood trail like this with a Muzzy. I replace the blades after every shot because I want a sharp blade for a clean kill on my next hunt. I have had bent blades before but replacement blades are cheap compared to everything else we spend money on for bowhunting.

I have seen many broad heads bend and some brake. Both fixed and mech. I believe the worst is when the blades brake, we have had broad heads lose" brake" blades in side animals. Then there is the risk of cutting some one while processing( has happened to us) or even the possibility of some one swallowing the broken piece. It is far better that they bend, and I have seen both average price and expensive fixed blade broad heads brake, loose blades. I don't trust mech. and for the most part try not to shoot any thing larger then a javelina or smaller pigs with them. But I have ,and have seen others kill large pigs, elk with them and most have no damage or very slight bend to the blades. And the blood trails have been outstanding. Either way on a broad head that has replaceable blades I expect to replace them after every shot. And I buy them knowing that. If I want a broad head that I have utmost confidence in that it will not bend or brake it will be a german kinetic,VPA, or one of the other more traditional type broad heads.Last edited by critter69; 11-26-2016, 11:35 AM.
