If you want to learn what NOT to do, watch footage from a duck calling contest!

        A whistle and Haydel's DR85.
Use it because it works. Have had several high-dollar acrylic calls and none of them work any better or as good as the dr-85.

Don’t call a whole lot but when I do i use my old double reed Jensen. Bought it 20 years ago and it is still mellow on a hale call. Hunted with a guide once that called too much. I told him to let me try. After I hailed a couple of times successfully, he tucked his call away after that and asked what brand of call mine was.

Some of these comments on you "don't need a duck call" must be coming from people who sound like a duckcall.Sound like a duck, sound like your spread and you will enjoy a lot more hunts with more birds knowing your skills made a difference .Get one of the RNT ,echo , or Phil Robertsons Art of commanding ducks videos. Charles Smith with Cadence Calls makes a great call and will help you along the way.

My lanyard has a Yentzen, a duck commander teal call, and a whistle. Early in the season a few little quacks and peeps can get their attention, none of the high ball show calling. Most hunts they don't get touched, especially after the first couple weeks of all the pro kazoo players going at it. Get a half dozen neon $150 calls if you wanna be in the cool club.

Haydel's RedLeg. Tried a lot of different calls and never found one better for pulling in the ducks.

I like Zink here lately. Have both the PH2 and ATM. Use them in different scenarios. Sound good, easy to blow, not too loud, and dont stick when blowing softly.
