    Still bachelored up in Doss

Went out this weekend hoping to catch the peak of the rut (usually the weekend before Thanksgiving in my area) and to my surprise there were still huge bachelor groups running around. In one group we counted 8 bucks just hanging out. A lot of the young ones had started to act squirrely chasing young does but it didn't seem like the rut was anywhere close. Anyone else in the area seeing the same thing?

Not your area but still I have zero deer moving during daylight in Southern Leon County. Never seen anything like it. Usually this time of year just driving in you should see plenty of deer running the pastures and into the woods. Even Sunday morning 30 degrees, calm wind and zero deer.

In Harper and Mason we have witnessed the act in the last 2 weeks. Seemed slow this past weekend though.

In Coke county I'm only seeing the younger bucks chasing does so far. They have split up for the most part here. Older bucks are Mia or traveling at night at my lease.

          Same here.
Sitting in a blind in London, no sign at all this weekend here. Last weekend they were running everything around.

Another week or two and the bucks will be back to grouping up where I hunt!

I'm guessing I must have just missed it and they grouped back up?...but what's strange is that I was out 2 weeks ago and again no sign of rut activity.

Opening weekend of rifle hunting there was a little sign. The younger bucks were sparing and some were chasing does. The other guys on my lease said last weekend they were rutting hard. I was pumped thinking this cold front would really have them going for this weekend but I haven't seen any sign that the bucks are even interested.

Down in hidalgo county I had a big wide deer show up with a smaller buck on camera bachelored up. Then one of my five pointers and a spike that had been together split up and they got me excited for the rut then yesterday evening I see them grouped up again. They're messing with my feelings man, all I want for Christmas is the rut to kick in!!!

In Fisher county, the young bucks on the ranch are chasing the does but the mature bucks aren't even looking at them as of last week. Usually, our rut gets going good the weekend after Thanksgiving thru the first weekend of December.

Same here for Harper. Opening weekend they were dogging hard. Now they're back to normal but not bachelored up by any means. So a few sniffing and pushing does this past weekend but not dogging them

I have a lot of deer in my neighborhood and sat morning the young bucks were running does all day. Nothing at the lease in lampasas though.

I'm in Loyal Valley right to your east a few miles, they were chasing hard opening weekend. Had multiple old bucks (one known 7.5 year old) on their feet chasing. I haven't been back since then, so I can't say what they are up to now. Hard to explain all the bucks running together though.

I was in Sabinal this weekend and they are usually rutting the week before Thanksgiving and no sign of the rut, Seen bucks together and bucks eating corn with doe. Seemed a little weird and not much of a corn crop either.
