Happened to me when I was in a lock on once. He layed there a bit till my dad came walking down the road to get me. I was able to stop my dad and point at the deer. Dad only made 3 or 4 more steps and the deer winded him or something. Deer went from prone to 96 mph in an instant.

Great picture. I had a nice one lie down like a dog about 140 yd. from me last week. He layed his chin on the ground but got up in about 15 seconds and left. And just as I was settling in to shoot ! I really never got the chance to look at his body, but he looked like low 130s.
