I don't have any of the LDPs. My brother and Perow will have to share those. Today was the 2nd time I have seen that buck this year. He was on several different trail cameras during the summer. Here are some crappy pics from one of the blind counts I did on August 14th
Yes sir. That's a nice buck. This thing you are doing is gonna make memories more than you ever imagined. Best of luck to y'all. Hope you find everything your looking for and more!!!
I will do a write up tomorrow but for now I want to give everyone a big thanks for following along and the good luck
I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Perdues for working their butts off for us not just from guiding but all the cooking and scouting and taking care of my dads deer after the shot.
No matter how many times I say thank you you will never understand what this weekend meant to me.
I could take pages to write up this hunt but will try and keep it somewhat short
I got my dad into WT hunting about 8-9 yrs ago as a way for him and I to spend more time together and work on our relationship. I wasn't the best of kids and have done and said stuff to him and mom that I will always regret. I live about 2 miles from them and see them weekly and talk almost daily now.
I have hauled him all over Texas chasing animals and good times. We have been successful on most of our leases but never had a chance at a big WT. When he told me about the possibility of the surgery and his attitude wasn't very good about it I did whatever good son with limited funds would do-asked mom for access to my inheritance funds. they weren't very excited about me spending the money on him but as I told them I didn't earn the money so why not spend it on him.
Once mom gave me access the planning was on. with the help of many TBH members hunts and fishing trips were being booked.
WT hunt at Tejas Poco Ranch was booked and pics sent of the deer they thought would perfect for dad. We have never been on a guided hunt or behind a high fence so not sure what to expect. All I can say is WOW at what the Perdue family has built. Dad and I had our own 2 bedroom house with everything you can imagine. They welcomed us just like we were family and my worries went away.
The hunt was hard-either Troy or Tye would guide us and the other and Mr. Perdue would go sit in blinds to watch for our deer. We had deer every sit but the 10 never showed for us. It was discussed with my dad if he wanted to settle for a smaller deer or come back if he never showed for us and dad wanted the 10 so if coming back had to be done well that would be it.(I think dad wanted to come back for the food)
after a bunch of hours and sits ending with him never showing we were down to the last sit. We had deer all morning and they were hot for the does. we were watching a good deer come in from the mesquites when all of a sudden Tye says "he's here". I get dads gun up and ready. The buck was skirting the edge of the food plot and mesquites and sure looked like he was gonna head out after the does but Tye hit the remote on the feeder and he decided he wanted a little snack before some loving. he finally turned broadside and Tye gave the green light and dad hammered him with a perfect shot. The buck didn't even take a step. High fives all around the blind.
Troy came up from another blind and the celebrations began. I was so happy to share this hunt with my dad.
I could keep rambling about everything but will end this with a huge THANK YOU to the Perdue family for what was an incredible moment for me & my dad.
Thanks again for coming along on this ride and there are more hunts to come
I will say this that I thought that high fence hunting was going to be ALOT easier but when your targeting once specific buck and its rut and they aren't hitting the feeders of food plots very much its Hard.
