Charlie is a good guy with good values but you can't have a top 10 recruiting class every year and then get beat by a 1-9 team that hasn't won another conference game in two years.

That being said, it will be interesting to see if Herman goes to Texas and brings Major Applewhite back with him after Charlie fired him.

There was a lot of Aggie fans that wanted Strong before they hired Sumlin. It probably would have been a better fit for Strong too.

There is a lot of talk that Strong will be snatched up right away either as a head coach like at Purdue. Other talk about him getting a high profile DC job like LSU (assuming Aranda goes with Herman to Texas). I don't think he will be out of work long. I think he will needs to take a DC job to regroup before taking another head job.

If Herman leaves UH, Applewhite would likely be the frontrunner to get the HC job @ Houston or other schools looking for a bright young coach
