I believe it mentioned the reloading stuff. Apparently the loose bullets would be marked so that even reloads will be "traceable."
It also states "rifle and handgun ammunition," I hope .22 even though capable of being fired from pistol or rifle would be exemp. Shotgun ammo is exempt for obvious reasons.

theyd have to find the bullet after shooting, or get a reloading press, because the bullet markings will be on the powder side of the base.

I doubt criminals reload, and getting the spent bullet and filing it off would be difficult I imagine

Oh, they will be if anything like this ever passes. There will be all kinds of very creative reloading contraptions made. You can count on that!

I wonder how those etchings would affect the bullet flight. I would imagine it would have a negative impact.

Here's an idea: Using the same logic, why don't we just require each criminal to shoot only bullets with their name on them. That solves all the problems right there.

                        Those Sneaky Anti-gunners...

                        Well, it's already started.

                        Heard anything about this??

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and
Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture a data
base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and
                        what calibers.

Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition
is coded. Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by
July 1, 2011. (Including handloaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05
cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least
                        $2.50 or more!

If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona,
California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland,
Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island,
                        South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this
legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

                              This is nuts!

So are we going to outlaw gunpowder, reloaders, legitimate bullet sales and what about the target shooters needs? This is absolutely stupid across the board!!!!
