Shoot me a pm with your guess and I'll let you know if your right.

He's a nice guy. I don't want to trash him.
He was up front with me about the tannery jacking up the hide and offered to replace it for free at the time. That says a lot about his character so I respect him for his efforts. It was more my fault in not taking him up on his offer, and not knowing how to take proper care of the mount that led to its current state.

My wife didn't want it in the house, and I thought it looked great on the back wall of the garage. So that's where it's been. My fault. I'm not fancy enough to own leather jackets so I don't know how to take care of those either. I didn't realize the damage it would cause just from being in the garage.

If you plan to keep it in the garage, just buy a plain antler mount kit from Walmart or any sporting goods store. You can remove the skull plate from the mount and do it yourself. No sense wasting money on a new hide that ruin in a few years.

1)....100% on you....He warned you..you made your choice and then you left it outside in the garage in the heat, cold and humidity..

2)....Tell the wife the mount is coming in the house when redone....give her back the crown royal bag when you are done..

3)...get a euro-mount kit if you can't convince your wife to let you have a mount in the house.... and keep it outside.

Is that why you left her bow hanging out there too?

Nothing special about that hide. Have them redo it at your expense with a new cape and you'll never know the difference

Happened to me. Nice to know there are those out there who have never screwed up before.

Thanks for all the input folks.

They have to get their dogpile on every once in a while.
Makes the weak ones feel more manly or something.
Better to take it out on me than someone else

Nobody said they have never screwed up nor called you an idiot......you asked for an opinion on an issue. Folks gave it and asked further questions. Don't be so defensive.

So they can ask further questions in an attempt to make me or others that have done the same thing feel smaller but I can't/shouldn't answer the question in a way that may make someone laugh at the situation?

Please, feel free to tell me and everyone else how I should've answered his question.

Maybe I didn't think my deer had enough character.
I wanted him to look meaner.

We have mounts on our wall that are 25 years old and look just as good as the day we got them. Yours shouldn't be coming apart at all imo. I agree with above post. It can be fixed with a new cape. But it's shouldn't be done. At the taxi expense. Talk to him. He might cut you a deal.
