Everyone has a different "feel" for what they want in a bow. If I was looking to spend another 400.00 I would folow a lot of the advice above and look on the classifieds and Ebay. I bought a Really Nice G5 a few seasons back on Ebay for less then 400 shipped.
After shooting it some, I sold the other compound bow I had and don't plan on buying anything else.

Can't really buy a "bad" bow these days IMO. It's just all about what you want out of it.

I have Bowtech AirRaid I'm selling. Ready to hunt with great sight and rest....$325.... Enough savings to buy you some nice arrows. May even throw in a pack of Broadheads.

I shoot a bear lights out. Bought new in 2009. I was on a budget and tested several in my price range and settled o. The bear. It's been dang good to me. Not the fastest bow out there by any means. But it's quiet and I shoot it well. I haven't had one problem out of it. I shot my first deer with a bow that year and have shot at least one every year since.

My son has the Diamond Edge. I frequently steal it from him. Been very impressed with it.

Nothing new at $400. Look for a used Bowtech.

By used. Good bows out there. I've bought two on eBay and have no regerts

Same as above, take advantage of the guys that get a new bow every year or two and dump their old ones on ebay or classifieds.

I've only ever had one problem with an Elite, it was a bow I bought off Ebay used. One of the limbs was delaminating or something, I called Elite and new limbs arrived three days later. They never even ask if I was the original owner

Went to Academy and looked at bows this weekend. The Diamond SB-1 looks pretty sweet. Their shooting range was down so I didn't get to try it out. Will be going back to see how it shoots. One good thing is I can add money to gift cards and pay for it when I get enough built up.
