    Rut Report: HouCo and Surrounding

What are my Houston/Walker/Trinity area hunters seeing?

Last weekend the young bucks were chasing and I'm hearing more and more discussions on big boys moving.

    What are you seeing?

This time of the year has usually been our peak action so I'm headed to the woods in the morning!

We had a couple of bucks chasing in Houston Co last weekend. The one I saw was a small 6 pt chasing 2 does. The one my BIL saw was a bigger buck (didn't get to see it long). Both with noses to the ground trying to get some.

A lot of people say it has come and gone in October. The. Eat rut activity I have ever seen i Anderson county on our place was around the 19th of November. TPWD list these dates.

Lots of our does bred in Houston co 21st -24th of October. The bucks are back cruising really hard right now though and I have seen does in heat twice in the past three days so the stragglers are still coming in. That makes for lots of competition. I had a pile of handcorn in my thicket the past two days that took 797 pics. ALL BUT ONE deer were bucks.
They cruise through and grab a little corn and then be gone for a couple hours. At least 13 different bucks with 4 being over 5 years old. Funny though that they didnt quite clean up 50 lbs even with that many deer coming.
