I'm planning on going to Amistad from November 6-9. My plan (I'm flexible with days and times) is to go scout the land Sunday the 6th and hunt the 7th through the 9th. I'd like to go during the week to avoid the weekend crowd. I've never hunted there before so anyone with experience is welcome to put in any advice. My plan is to go for aoudad and whitetail, but I won't hesitate to put any game animal on the dinner table. You will be required to get an Amistad hunting permit for $20 which you could get via mail (pay by mail or email). I'm going to start looking for a cheap place to stay since I only plan on sleeping and showering there. If anyone has any recommendations I would surely appreciate it. I'm in SA so if there is anyone around here, maybe we could carpool to save on gas.

I hunted down there about 25 years ago so I am absolutely no help. I would love to go with you but like flywise said, life gets in the way. We have a grandbaby dedication at church on Sunday.
I can tell you this, it is cold at night and early morning and it can get hot during the day so layer and take a back pack to store your stuff in. Everything will either bite you or stick you, there is some mean azz cactus down there, and did I mention that it gets hot during the day. Beautiful country.

I'm just south of SA. Slated to work that Sunday but can put in for leave (military so it might not happen). I'd love to go but to be honest I have no experience there so I'd be more help packing in and tracking. You planning on a stalk and hunt or looking for game trails and setting up a ground/brush in/tree blind?
Richard.
