[QUOTE=justletmein;11823083]Man I hate to read this, it's hard enough to get a kill out there to begin with. I think it's time to come back with some catfishing pole, probably gonna be a good spot for a few days.

One of my Aoudad's I killed out there flopped over into the water, thought he was gone but his horn hooked a rock and I was able to reach in and drag him out. That water is so clear if you had access to a boat and shine the light down you might be able to see it. I don't dig those spider webs you mentioned so I'm waiting til November but now you got me excited. [\QUOTE]

Funny you mention the catfish.. I probably saw at least 30 - 40 fish including several catfish while looking for the doe. Bass, carp, catfish and 2 other species I could not get a good look at. There are lots of frogs at each cove inlet. Luckily I did not run into any snakes in the tall grass of the inlets. Keeping my fingers crossed the lake stays up or goes higher, fishing will be back like in 07-10

As for the boat, I have a boat it just not working. I might yak out there today if the wind is not to bad. Wanting to see if it's possible anyway and just might take a fishing pole! Let me know when you decide to come down maybe we can get some grub and a cold beverage to go with it.

Well fellers, I am going back out there at daylight to look for the doe. I will have to see if any one is hunting as I don't want to ruin anybody's hunt... I had a terrible time trying to sleep thinking the doe is out there. Got most of the thorns that were impaled in me last night after eating. I had never lost an deer so it's heart breaking, I know it happens but I am not sure I want to hunt until I exhaust this search.

Anybody know if the meat would hold up longer if I can find the doe in the water??

Thanks. I know better than to think the meat might be salvageable. Part of my feeling is that the doe might have gotten back on shore and I hate to leave the animal out there if there is any chance it was not fatally hurt. I had a hard time sleeping on that one along with the loss of the meat...

Well it was an unproductive search for the doe

She very likely sunk and it may take a couple days for her to float. I lost one of the largest bucks I ever shot like that. Big running creek and he was 20yds from it. I shot him double lung and he just death charged off the bank and sunk. I never found him. I came back with rope and drag but Im guessing he drifted far away in the current.

Sounds like a horrible way to lose a trophy along with a lot for burger grind... I looked this morning and can't fathomed that the doe walked out anywhere. Lots of blood before going in the water. Hate the waste of meat and that I could not get the deal closed...

I'll be down there for a 4-5 day stretch between Nov 7-13 or so, days will shift forward or back. Most likely camping at Spur 406 but maybe San Pedro if it's not crowded (I hate camping around a bunch of RV's). Look for a blue Ram 2500 with a big aluminum boat. I'll PM you my number too.

Don't sweat it man, you gave a valiant effort to find it and that's all you can do. So many guys out there just track for half hour and leave it's absurd. I'm the same way and I've put in my time too, tracked a monster Aoudad for 3 days, spent my whole trip looking for him and his tiny spotted blood trail finally lead over to a fance. Talked to 3 guys last year who claim to have wounded 3 "big" bucks. I thought they were full of poo until I ran across some blood right where they said they were hunting. Talking to them it sounded like they might have spent 10 minutes tracking each one. Two of them I'm pretty sure I know the deer it was judging by where they said they were and that I never saw them come back to their scrapes again after that weekend. If they're the same ones those two were definitely decent deer that I would have loved to get a shot on.
