Pretty disappointed with my RTIC 45

I don’t know if it’s possible to get a bad unit or not but mine does not hold ice more than 3 days. I did a beer test when I got it and it lasted 3 and a half days. Not that was without the “pre-chill” so I shrugged it off. Then we went on a hunt this past weekend and I pre-chilled it overnight and put fresh ice in it Friday morning. By Sunday afternoon it was all gone. Sunday afternoon I put in more ice and a few bottles of water and checked it once a day. Just checked it and the ice is gone and the water is cold but not like ice water cold which tells me the ice has been gone most of the day.

I got sucked into the hype of the roto coolers and so far I have to say I’m pretty disappointed. I know ice is going to melt and that it’s not a freezer but with all the hoopla I figured that after 5-6 days there would still be a little ice floating in the water.

You should have got a Yeti ... they make ice.

My experience is to get the long ice rentention the cooler needs to stay in the shade, be pre chilled and left alone. If you use it for a beer cooler and you are in and out of it all day it melts pretty fast.

Agreed, all of them Yeti, RTIC and Pelican from my experience.

How much do you want for it! my beer rarely last more than two days so I think we would be a match made in heaven. MAKE ME A DEAL SINCE IS DOESN'T WORK!!!!

That's what I figured too that's why I wasn't really worried about it over the weekend.

I guess I was expecting more out of it.

Plus the site says it holds ice for 10 days. No way will it do that, not that I really need it to.

Exactly! I just got a RTIC 65 and feel the same now

They all are way overpriced and overhyped...but for $130 out the door I couldnt complain.

You should've gotten better performance. I have a 30qt yet hopper. Every weekend I fill it with ice, a 12 pack, and bottled water at about 1pm. I'm in it all weekend long and always have ice Monday morning when I empty it. Two weekends ago I grabbed a beer and forgot to zip it back up until I discovered it the next morning. Still kept ice all weekend.

I know my hopper isn't a roto molded cooler, but you should've gotten better ice retention.

They are all overrated. Number one I have no need to hold ice for 6 days. My longest hunt is 4 days max, not to mention I can get another bag of ice for $1.29. IMO not worth spending $500 on a frickn ice chest. I could almost buy a new bow with that.

what do yall mean by "holds ice for 3 days."? do you mean ice does not melt and you have as much ice on day 3 as day 1 or there is some ice floating around in the ice cold water after 3 days?

There was a little bit of ice in the water yesterday which was day 3, today its just water.

Make sure you aren't putting warm/lukewarm drinks in their either. I know when I cool down all of my drinks in the fridge before putting them in the cooler, it really helps. It's going to melt some ice putting a 6 pack of Gatorade off of Walmart's shelves. Also, it being 90 degrees doesn't help..
