I'm on the professional staff of the TYHP program - glad to hear everyone's positive comments! We are blessed to have lots of great landowners and volunteers that make TYHP happen.

There is still tremendous opportunity to join in our hunts this year! We have posted 136 hunts thus far (and granted a few have been completed now), but many more are to come, as we expect to conduct over 200 hunts thru spring 2017. Keep an eye on our schedule: http://www.tyhp.org/youth-hunters/youth-hunt-schedule/

If I can help with anything or answer any questions please feel free to call, text or email me:

TYHP is an absolutely fantastic program! Our first hunts with TYHP were in 2014 and each of my sons went again once in 2015. For my older son that was his first archery hunt. Each hunt was a wonderful experience with absolutely great huntmasters, landowners and fellow hunters. Oh, and the meals they provide are top notch as well! We had dutch oven peach cobble on an archery hunt last year that was the best thing I have ever tasted.
TYHP has provided me and my sons with hunting opportunities we never would have had otherwise and we have made some great, life long memories hunting together. Really the only unfavorable thing I can say - and it's really not a negative because I understand their mission - is it's much harder to get drawn if it's not your first year. And like I said I know that's intentional on their part. I hope to take my daughter on her first hunt with TYHP this year in the spring. She's not quite ready to shoot a deer yet but she's dying to shoot a turkey!

We have referred our friends to the program and their experiences have been positive as well. I highly recommend TYHP to everyone!

My son shot his first hog and doe there on the SAME morning sit a couple of years ago. Strap in and hang on, you and your boy will have a blast!

I cannot say enough about TYHP.

How difficult is it to get drawn for these? Are the odds as bad as the TPWD drawn hunts?

If it's your first year in the program it's not difficult at all. My boys each got drawn for three hunts their first year.

It is easy to get drawn for the hunts. If it is your childs first year to hunt fill out the comments that it is. If not fill out the comments. It is one of the best organizations out there, the staff, and huntmasters are great. I wish that every state had a program like this. My daughter cried when she found out Georgia doesnt have a youth hunting program like Texas.
