    Should I move my camp?

I'm in the process of getting some acreage and the electricity and cleared out camp area is sort of centered in the property. Probably about 1000 feet from the stands I plan on setting up. It would take work, but I could move the whole camp up towards the entrance of the property, and it would double my distance from my stands which I am going to put near a dry creek.

Curious if y'all think it's necessary. It's real heavy brush at the front so I'd need a bull dozer and then have to get electrical moved and well water piped. Not a simple task, but if it's necessary it's necessary.

I prefer to hunt as far away from my camp or house as possible.

I would have my camp near the entrance.

Moving camp would be ideal if possible.

Probably depends more on how much dirt you're hunting and what is around your property. I'm the type that loves to hunt the 'back 40' too, but oddly enough the guy who hunts closest to our camp has taken the biggest buck the last several years. On another farm I hunt, I have been chasing a buck that hangs closer to the house than the 'back 40'. Go figure.

I would keep camp away from the very front just so it might help keep you from having unwanted guest. Outta sight ,outta mind. I have seen some of the biggest deer killed close to camp too.

yeah part of what is making me hesitate also is that the property is in the back of other properties so the "front" is not on a highway or heavily traveled and the surrounding areas are brush anyway so it's possible leaving that area undisturbed could help bring more deer onto the property.

right now I'm thinking hunt near the dry creek. but the thick brush at the front could hold deer just as well.

Bringing in a bulldozer, running wires, and plumbing water pipes seems like an awful lot of effort just to move your camp 300 yards further from your stands. Must be a small lease?

Some of the largest bucks killed on our lease have been killed right from the camp. If you are already set up why change until you see the need.

My most productive stand is the one closest to camp. I usually drop everyone else off then park at camp and walk to it so I can get back early to cook breakfast. So far it's been a great stand. Also if your stand is close you can walk to it instead of driving and making a lot of noise.

yeah it's only 88 acres. Want to make the most out of it.

This is true. They come up to within 40 yards of my camp to drink water.

A couple of the bigger deer taken on our place were within a few hundred yards of camp. I wouldn't worry about it
