Nope teh u bolts cut easy lol its the 9 1/16 that are a pain in the butt that we had to cut thur the leaf spring into them to get them off.

I snapped lug bolts by jumping on the tire tool on the old Chryslers before I figured out one side was left handed.

I just replaced an axle on my 29 year old dual axle utility trailer last week. The air wrench had no problem getting the U-bolts or springs loose. I replaced every bolt and bushing on both springs while I was at it. Maybe you need a bigger air wrench?

Something seems fishy. If an 8lb sledge didn't move it, then you weren't hitting it or it was welded on.
