I got a very interesting call today!!

So on my way home from work today I got a phone call from a local number I did not know, being as I am a contractor I answered hoping that it was more business even though I'm up to my eyeballs as it is right now. I answered and a man said hello my name is blah blah blah I found your phone number on Facebook and I was wondering if I could talk to you about some property your family owns. Seeing as how I was pretty sure they had sold all of it after my grand parents died I was intrigued. He goes on to tell me he is looking to get into buying and selling real estate and found a piece my grand father owned and the taxes havnt been paid on it since he died and he was shocked that it hadn't been auctioned off and wanted to know if we would be interested in letting him pay he taxes on it and throwing a little money our way and taking it over. He then tells me there are lots of properties he still owns out there and he couldn't believe we were just letting them all go. Well now I'm all perked up but I have no idea how to go about finding this stuff out. Are there any blood hounds in here who could help me find out anything about property he or my grand mother may still own?

Do you know what county the property is in? If so most county websites will let you look up property by name.

You could try an abstract company and search it that way. Hope he wasn't filling you full of bull. Good luck and keep us posted

Do you have the same last name as your grandparents? How could he have possibly tracked you down?

How long ago did your grandparents die? If several years is it even possible IF this was true that the property would not have been sold for back taxes?

If you know the counties, you should be able to call the assessors office.

If you do (and at least it's possible), ask to meet him for a cup of coffee to discuss his proposal. Armed.

If you know the counties it would be easy. If not, could be tough. If you know the county, PM me and I will see what I can do. I'm a petroleum Landman and this is pretty easy to figure out if you have a lead.

You can find out by asking him exactly what properties he is talking about because you uave so many you cant keep track. Play him a little and get more info.

Pretty easy, go to the county Tax appraisal district. . .

Better than the call I got, a guy that definitely isn't from this country called and said he works for Microsoft and there's a hacker trying to get into my computer after a while he navigated me to a page that had errors and said that's the hacker trying to get in. So then he gives me a code and tells me to download a program so he can access my computer and I was just like no sir you had me in the beginning but I caught you now. He still said he was with Microsoft so I said hold on while I call and ask them after that he hung up.

Visit the county Tax appraisal clerk where he lived and with his ssn and death certificate you may be pointed in the right direction. They all want their tax money.

If there are possibly back taxes owed I wouldn't go to the people trying to collect said taxes. Lol
