One thing I have learned to do is to keep at least one spare release in my hunting bag. Often i have one in the truck, one in the bag, and one in the bow case. I can think of at least two times prior to adopting this method where i have gotten in the stand and reached down to make sure everything is ready and I haven't had my release. Its no fun to climb into a tree and then have to climb right back down to go home.

I wish it was as simple as just having a bag packed all season. Unfortunately depending on the weather what I pack in changes every trip, so I end up going through all of my gear every hunt. I also hunt pretty brutal areas and am a minimalist, so I'm not the "everything but the kitchen sink" type.
What I wore/took opening weekend here:
Snake boots
Socks
Microtex pants
Belt
.38 revolver
Wallet with license
iPhone (GPS)
Athletic T-Shirt
Bug suit jacket
Hat
Thermacell
Bug spray
Pack
Harness
Binoculars
Knife
Headlamp
Water
Granola bars
Gloves
Bow rope
Bit of TP in a ziploc
Bow
Quiver
Arrows/broad heads
Shooting tab
Used everything but the knife, gloves, granola bars, and TP, and I've used all of those things on the past!Last edited by gatorgrizz27; 09-28-2016, 07:06 PM.
