Dove limits/possession & collared dove question

I think this is a situation that the GW have not got quite figured out.

If you have 2 birds over limit, you are over your limit. If 3 of those birds were Eurasians, then prove it. You get your ticket and the burden of proof is on you. All the GW knows/cares is that you have more birds than is allowed.

not altogether true. he needs to be able to say which of those birds are regulated and should be counted. Non regulated should not be counted.

Let us know how that works out for you. I'd suggest you contact your local game warden and run your theories by him. I don't think you'll get the response you're expecting.

I think he/she needs to be able to identify the birds. I would think there are something that differentiates these birds from each other. other than leaving a wing on.

Prove it. Just because you put the breast in separate bags means nothing.

There's a reason some states REQUIRES you to leave evidence of sex on big game animals. Your word means NOTHING. It's that simple.

Yes, if I shoot enough collared dove to put me over my limit I will share with the class.

So is the consensus to just leave them be and clean them in 3 days when you get home?

If you have 2 bags full of dove breasts, and the GW stops you, and you say "Don't worry, this bag is Eurasian doves!", he is going to start writing, then say, "Sign here, please."

Even when I shoot them I usually just add them to my regular 15 limit.

15 is about all I want to clean at a time anyways.

It's the same rules here. If you shoot a limit and get some Eurasian doves then leave a wing or the head on. I don't think I'd wait 3 days to clean them. Now say you shot 13 of one and 2 of the other. Then it wouldn't matter. I'd just rip the wings off and count that as a limit.

Are you supposed to keep a wing attached? How can you prove that all your dove are NOT white-tipped if all you have are 15 breasts and no wings.
