Glad it's a late game. Should be skinning some deer by that time of day.

Strong said in his PC that all starters should be back for Cal.

I said it in the last thread, but I've never seen a college coach choose to rest so many guys like that before. Ballsy. Charlie must feel pretty good about this team.

I still think the AP voters are drunk. No way should Texas be that high (I know, it doesn't matter yet). I think the coaches have it right. Aggies have a chance to make a big jump this week.

How about if ND beats Mich State?

That's the benefit of playing UTEP and PVAM, you can rest people if you need too. Neither team would have a chance playing even the 2nd string at Texas or A&M.

..and Texas wins? Then I would put Texas at 12. Not because Texas would have beat a great Cal team but, because that meant they took care of business and I expect quite a bit of fallout after this weekend. Potential slots opened by Louisville, OU and Michigan State to start with.

                  Toe to toe trading blows.

If you have 10 minutes and don't mind living in the past, this is cool. Of course, life is always cooler with a good sound track.

DeShone Kizer looks really good in the rearview mirror. He's going to give some teams fits.

                  His GF ain't bad either.

Herman doesn't seem to care much about OU bouncing back, he's assisting his old boss in prep.

                        As a topic for debate?

Etling is a definite upgrade. Cameron's play calls looked much smarter when passes were executed; runs looked better, even with Fournette out. Running the table not at all assured, though, with Les still at the helm.

I didn't watch the game, but wasn't he something like 6-14 passing? Did the offense look much better with him in the game?

Actually, his first series or two the playbook opened up. It looked like a completely different team, and I'm not really sure that was because of Etling, but it's like a whole new OC was at the game. He started 6/8, but his TD the dude was wide open. The second half he went 0-6 and I heard they went back to ground and pound Les miles game plan.

What I took from watching the first half is that LSU can be a really good football team if the plays that were called the first 2 series of Etling's debut continue to be called. Their offense is just stale with Les miles hands on it. Dive left, dive right, dive left, play action, dive right, dive left.

He came in after a couple of inept possessions by Harris and led offense to three straight scoring drives. Completely changed the complexion of the game, energized all phases of team. Things did level out later, but change was immediate and obvious.

In for the week. The Bears travel to Houston to play Rice before opening up conference play against Ok St back in Waco.

The first half Saturday was the sloppiest play I've seen from the Bears in years. No doubt that they will need to sure some things up going forward.
