We are fortunate to have a ton of axis here in Kendall county. I have lost count of the big one's we have stuck but this one was my first with a trad bow.

We have fed everything you can think off. The top 3 we use are alfalfa, horse and mule sweet feed and watermelons.

SHot these at the Baker 3 Ranch. Seen some that are A lot bigger. All spot and stalk or sitting on water. They are tough. All vitals are forward. YOu need to shoot them thru the shoulder's.

That's no lie. But the rewards are great when you get one. Definitely not a canned hunt.

You need to shoot them through the shoulders. Quartering away is even better. If you hit them in the crease, you are in the gut. EVerything is forward on an axis. Their lungs and heart are tiny compared to a whitetail. THink African plains game. You can
Hit them in the shoulder and blow through them. SHoulder bone is forward.

This was taken from a tripod and Angled downward. This is the entrance wound with a Rage Extreme. Clipped the top of the heart and front of the lungs. he went about 30 yards and was done.

Man I don't remember what the stand was called but it was almost due west of the campsite right on the fence line. Big oak tree with one of those hang on stands that he had.

Tagged thread! This will be my first year hunting axis and I'll take all the advice I can get. I didn't know that their vitals were further forward, so I learned something new already.
