    Anyone with high cholesterol

Just hit 40 and had my physical. Cholesterol was 272! Yikes.

Doctor didn't put me on prescribed meds but rather more vitamin supplements and watch the diet

I take flax seed oil and fish oil as a supplement. Both are supposed to reduce cholesterol.

Me too but only for about 3 years. No side effects and cholesterol has come down to where the Dr. is happy. Mine is hereditary and several years ago I was basically told it was just a matter of time before I was going to be on medication....

My family is genetically inclined to high cholesterol....We are not big people. My mother was 5 foot tall and never weighed more than 110 pounds n her life. She was a farm girl and ate as correctly as a person could. Her cholesterol was well over 600..... Mine was just about the lowest of anyone on the that side of the family. It hovered around 250. I finally let the doctor talk me into taking some meds. It fell to about 140....then I started having issues from the meds. They took me off of them and my new level was abut 285. They tried another meds. Cholesterol fell back down, started having issues from the meds, took me off, new level was about 335. Tried something new, had a reaction, new level 350 or so.......See where this is going? I would have been miles ahead if I had never let them talk me into the meds. For me it was kind of like a yo-yo diet. For the record I am 5'5" and 140 pounds and work out 3 to 4 times a week. The good news is they are finding that the cholesterol scare is turning out a lot like the need to floss your teeth.....

I've been on Lipitor 10mg for a few years now. Sure did the trick. Blood tests every 6 months to keep an eye on it.
Also quickly found out that I can no longer tolerate beans after starting Lipitor.

I'm on meds for it. Luckily the generic she found worked for $1.10/month. Lipitor was $285/month!

I have a bad family history as well, mine was over 300 and they put me on Lipator and we did not get along well. They put on Crestor and I have been on that for about 5 or 6 years. I want to say my level was around 70 at the last check and the doctor said I was below him.

I think they call that family of drug Statons, or something like that. I see no reason not to take one if you need it.

I am actually on the generic of Lipitor as well - Atorvastatin.

im in the same boat. yall should look into lovistatin. it's $ 4 for 30 day or $10 for 90 days from Walmart. they had me on simvistatin at $15 for 30 days and I had them change it over with zero issues and it still does the same thing. better safe than sorry unless you have side effects. A guy I work with had a heart attack at 39 years old. his cholesterol was 265!

Actually, I think I had taken Crestor. It didn't have a generic so I was screwed.

I just ate 6 fried Oreos so I'd say I'm in that boat right now.
