2011 2500 chevy company truck...the memo I got from HR still had no action required & pending. I'm not gonna worry about anything I can't control..then again, it's just me & not my family.

Sounds like this one of the monster recalls that could put a supplier out of business...I bet it's gonna be a legal nightmare on the $$$ trail.

Got it on our 2014 Acura. We parked it for a month and they furnished us with a rental (2015 Dodge pickup with the Hemi!). Bag has been replaced with no issues.

I'm really curious how the numbers work out. What percentage of airbags are defective? What percentage of airbag deployments result in injury due to the defect?

My guess, and it's just a guess, is that this is as likely a lawyer over-reaction mixed with some regulatory over-reach, and that the percentages of defect and the potential rate of incident are both so low that the likelihood of anything happening to any one person is virtually nothing.

Wife's CRV has airbag recall. They put us up in a rental car and we are leaving the car in the garage until the parts come in. Parts for one side is in but we've asked them to wait until both sides come in so we can get them done at once.

I got a letter on the VW that there is an airbag issue but no fix yet, then another on a connector under the car that can catch fire but no fix yet all on top oft he emissions deal. At this point I'm kinda hoping they offer me a diamond price for the **** before I have to put tires on it or do another oil change. I'm not overly worried about any of the issues but the lack of a fix is just another nail in the coffin.

Most of me agrees with your point, but to gamble with someone life when you knowingly have deaths associated with defective equipment is a big no no. If you look at refineries, phone companies, mining or any production or manufacturing company safety is always an issue. So to knowingly ignore it is not the right path.

I have a 2012 Silverado but I haven't gotten a recall or anything. I have heard of the recalls for them being overcharged and coming out too fast in other makes.

One of the guys I work with has a Lexus and got the recall for the passenger air bag, but of course they are not available for replacement. For his, they say that it isn't the pressure, but in the Lexus, which is 5 years old I think, there is plastics or something that deteriorate in the heat and when the air bag goes off it sends shrapnel with it. He asked the dealer what was he supposed to do in the mean time, they told him don't let anyone sit in the passenger seat and don't hit anything. Gee thanks.

My 09 Silverado is one. Maybe that explains why my dash cracks in the same place above the passenger side airbag?
