Fixing to spend my 3rd day on Grand Jury tomorrow and we have had at least 5-6 assault family violence cases the past 2 meetings. Texas law has upgraded it to a felony when an individual is choked during the encounter. (occlusion)
Of the 10 or 12 we have heard thus far, there have been 2-3 victims that want to see the perp go to trial. The rest don't want them to go to prison. I have learned one thing that makes it easy, when baby momma comes in with baby daddy's name tatted across her chest she ain't gonna testify no matter how bad she got beat down.

I personally think you went above and beyond by at least offering help not just once but several times ( we all know one can put ones self in danger by getting involved in this type of situation). Lots of folks wouldnt have even given the situation a thought much less a second.
You did the right thing brother, you tried to help. Worry not.

Thanks. I am surprised at the lack of understanding from the green screen. Domestic violence is a vicious cycle. My wife is a social worker and says it averages 7 attempts before the victim leaves the abuser for good.

The girl had fear in her eyes but also seemed accustomed to the situation. The guy was running around shirtless and was all tatted up. I was glad he didn't approach my truck while I was talking to her because I could see things going bad quickly.

To the OP - I would have called the police. Victims are often never going to speak out unless they have a strong assurance they won't be retaliated against by their abuser.

You did everything you could except call the police. That's a very dangerous and unpredictable situation to be in. Plenty of police officers have lost their lives dealing with domestic violence calls.

I know a guy that jumped in the middle of a guy pushing a woman around once. The dang woman scratched him across the face in defense of her stupid boyfriend. If they like gettin beat on there's not a thing you can do about it. There are things in this world that people need to have happen over and over again until they are absolutely sick and tired of it. Not just in this situation but drug addiction or whatever else is the same way. That ol' boy ain't gonna change. He's set in his ways now. The only way she's gonna change things is either leave him or put a bullet in him.
