I have 8 and 3 of them are laying. The others are about a month younger and will lay pretty soon. Mine are free range most all day and put up at night. Should be getting alot of eggs here shortly.

My Basset hound went after them at first...but soon realized it was hopeless and now just watches them.

We have six hens and one rooster. We get four eggs a day. Three brownish and one light green. Love the fresh eggs!

I agree. We've got 38 so far down from 50 due to a hawk. They range over the acre around the house and there is poop everywhere. Sometime this fall I'm fencing them into a 1/4 acre run. I know the feed use will go up but I'm tired of all the poo. We'll probably end up with near 50 again this fall as we are selling eggs as fast as the chickens can lay them. Other than a slump when the hawk was here, they just stopped laying all together, they lay enough eggs to pay for their feed.
